About Captured by Christy

Christy Roseveare is a former appellate lawyer turned stay at home mom (read chauffeur) and senior adult caretaker (more chauffeuring). At capturedbychristy.me, she is interested in sharing her journey plus the little bit of wisdom and, hopefully, more than a little bit of humor she encounters along the way. A primarily self-taught digital photographer, Christy enjoys pairing vivid images with her written reflections and finds blogging to be the perfect marriage of the two. It’s like scrapbooking with feedback.

Aside from photography, Christy’s greatest passions are her family, her garden and, first and foremost, her God. A proud resident of Oak Cliff (aka “The Hood”), Christy finds inspiration in the vibrant clash of cultures and personalities that populate her family’s inner city environment. In addition to being an epicenter of creativity, life in the Hood provides the Roseveares ample opportunity to aspire to live out lives of love in obedience to Mark 12: 29-31. When not coming up woefully inadequate in that aim, Christy enjoys trolling tattoo parlors with her girlfriends, listening to audiobooks, watching Lost, and attempting the New York Times Crossword puzzle. She does not enjoy laundry, or any other household chores for that matter, and admits to only two addictions – Diet Dr. Pepper and her iPhone.

Most recently, Christy has started sharing her photographic talents through her new business venture – Captured By Christy. Specializing in children, teens and families, Christy focuses on bringing her personal brand of modern portraiture to clients in and around the Dallas area. She makes both environmental and home studio portraits and will even shoot an event now and then (think parties, not weddings – too stressful).

In addition to being the famed “cousin Tammy” of countless family legends, Tammy Abramovitz often serves as Christy’s long distance lifestyle and hostessing inspiration. Tammy has a knack for packaging everything from ideas to frito pies beautifully, exudes an unforgettable energy and knows just how to make every guest in the room feel like the guest of honor.

A native Texan, and a Coloradan by choice (don’t hold that against her, it makes for great snow stories), Tammy is a lover of life and can fry a chicken to boot! “High Noticing” is her trademark and her ability to garner the small and the sweet from everyday life is her gift. She resides in a suburb of Denver, (don’t hold that against her either…she rails against urban sprawl whenever she can) and lives with a hat trick of the most perfect boys in the world. If only they made Zamboni’s for housecleaning!
